Why Tapioca?

We – Anna and Klinta – are two friends with a shared dream: to share flavours that surprise and delight. Our story began during travels in Portugal, where Anna first discovered tapioca crepes by the ocean cliffs. Inspired by the sun, freedom, and exotic charm, we decided to bring this flavour to Latvia.

Now our home is in Pāvilosta – the little Portugal by the Baltic Sea. Here, in the harbour with sunset views, we prepare every crepe with love, combining unexpected flavours and creating an atmosphere you want to stay in.

And yes – tapioca crepes really do appear in dreams. Our customers confirm it.

A story of perseverance

When Tapioca Latvia was born, we already had everything – a brand, a logo, an identity, and hearts full of determination. The first step was a private launch evening with friends. Flavours, smiles, excitement – everything went as planned. And then came the first working day in Pāvilosta.

The sea roared, the sun shone, and we were full of hope. But the recipe that had always worked suddenly refused to cooperate. The tapioca crepes simply didn’t turn out. Not a single one. What could we do when the whole business was built around one dish that now just wouldn’t come together? Then we remembered – flexibility is part of creativity.

For the first few days, we made French crepes, until one morning, with the help of meditative music and countless tutorial videos, a miracle happened – our tapioca crepes worked again. And this time – even better than ever before. We found our perfect recipe – one that fully reflects our flavour, character, and story.

And every tapioca crepe we make today carries the spirit of that first day’s experience – a reminder that a true beginning often starts exactly when everything seems difficult.
